“You are a badass” I bought this book when I was LA a month ago. Let me start by saying that I’m not surprised that this book is #1 New York Times bestseller. I just love it, and I finished reading it in one week. Kid you not. It felt great reading this book, I have enjoyed it so much that I couldn’t put it aside for a minute.

Jen (the writer) apparently has the experience, and she knows what she’s talking about in her book. She’s also funny and has a great writing style. The book is very engaging, and she feeds you information in the best and humorous way possible. Unlike the regular depressing self-help books out there, this book actually motivates you and gives you methods that you can follow to change (if you’ve decided to change in the first place).

The great thing about this book is that not only was it inspiring to me, but also to my 14 year old daughter. I have shared a few chapters with my daughter that I felt could be helpful for her in her teen years, and she came back to me saying that she would like to read the whole book once I finish it.

Another bonus that this book offers an abundance book references included, with a brief description of the books listed.

I’m always on the lookout for good self-help books, and I very much enjoy reading that sort of book genre. But I have also been disappointed more than a few times in some of the books that I came across. On the other hand, this book was worth the money and the time.

Fitness gadgets…

It goes without saying that there are many fitness gadgets available nowadays. Some of which are very expensive, and other more affordable ones. Most of us have a couple of gadgets that help us in the gym, or at home. But which ones work for you?
Fitness gadgets are cool and fun. If you think about it, they are motivating too. They are refreshing and helpful throughout your workout or your diet. Nevertheless, fitness gadgets could be the cause for your lifestyle positive change.
I have summed up for you a list of fitness gadgets benefits:

1. They make your exercise more enjoyable.
2. They make your workout more comfortable.
3. They provide you with a sense of control over what you are doing.
4. They provide you with a sense of control over your eating habits.
5. They could be the purpose of changing your bad habits into good ones.
6. They will make you more committed and accountable towards your new healthy lifestyle, whether that is your workout or your diet.
7. And let’s not forget, that it’s an excellent gift idea.

A few examples on some of whats out there:

1. Fitness trackers that monitor your heart rate, steps, calories, sleep, and much more.
2. Wireless headphones.
3. Fitness Apps.

Before purchasing or investing in any fitness gadget, consider carefully what you want to get out of it. Make sure you research well, to benefit the most from it. You would always want to invest in reliable products and brands.

I hope you all had a great summer vacation. And now that it is over, it’s time to pull yourselves back into reality and get back on track into business, school, or whatever you do. And focus all your energy on being productive and fruitful. Having said that, it doesn’t mean that you cannot dream of your next vacation:)

Are you living a healthy lifestyle?

Well, it’s a yes or no answer, there is no in between. And if you’re not, I highly recommend you start right away.
Living a healthy lifestyle would be by far the best thing you would ever do. Having said that, I don’t mean that you start dieting for the purpose of losing weight nor following those insane torturing methods that don’t allow you to eat anything.
Believe it or not you need to eat everything. Everything from carbs, proteins to fats.
What you need to do is to follow a well balanced diet containing all of the above but in moderation. Simply because our bodies need carbs for energy, proteins to repair cells and build muscle, and fats for growth development and cell functioning and many other things (I’m not a dietitian, but I try to research and learn as much as possible). The mistake that we all do is that we consume more calories a day than we should, and that’s the main reason why we gain weight.
A healthy lifestyle also means that you should consider working out. I know that this could be a disappointment to many of you, but trust me its essential. And once you get used to working out, you will get addicted.
I feel great after a good workout. It’s a great way to release any negative energy and stay fit at the same time.
The great thing is that it’s become easier than ever to adopt a healthy lifestyle into your life. There are many places that offer healthy food options that can be delivered to your door step. So you have no excuse!

Make it a habit, a routine. Look for things that motivate you, and for people who can inspire you.

Ibrahim is such a great example for living a healthy lifestyle, and he’s so inspirational on so many levels, Ibrahim demonstrates how every one of us could start living a healthy lifestyle with a pinch of creativity. He practices yoga, gym, and makes incredibly innovative tasty dishes. He has published his first book “ Shai Gourmet,” which incorporates many healthy dishes and more importantly answers many of the questions that we all wonder about. Ibrahim Zainal is a firm believer in the anti-diet approach.

There is a lot of nonsense about nutrition out there, so be selective and careful in what you read.

A healthy lifestyle is a choice, and no one else can make that choice for you. Take it now, you won’t regret it.

Mood Boards…

According to Wikipedia, “a mood board is a type of collage consisting of images, text, and samples of objects in a composition. It can be based upon a set topic or can be any material chosen at random”. You have probably seen designers use mood boards to reflect their design concepts. But what is important to note, is that mood boards are really for everyone.
Mood boards are a great way to put together your thoughts, dreams, desires, and goals that you wish to accomplish. It’s the best way to visually convey the essence of who you are, and what you aspire to become.
Mood boards have proven to be a very successful tool for planning and achieving your goals. Placing visual words that mean something to you, alongside images that reflect what you want to achieve and become, and looking at them every day will constantly help you to work hard towards your goals “Law of Attraction”.
It is believed that when you focus your energy on good thoughts, you will attract good things. The more positive energy you generate, the more positivity you attract into your life.
The most exciting thing in life is to have a purpose and a goal. No matter how big or small that goal is, the important thing is how much it means to you as a person.
Last but not least, I encourage everyone of you to take this opportunity and start your mood boards today. Believe me; it is worth the extra time.

 

 

Stress No More…

Every one of us deserves to release all the stress that we endure from the world around us and to get rid of that negative energy. Why not discharge all that burden with one magical tool. Candles have been used by almost every religion and culture. They have proven to have powerful calming effects on individuals. They can transform your mood with their soothing effect, which eventually reduces your stress levels. After our sight captures the soft light from the candle, it automatically gets sent to the brain for processing, and hence the body starts to relax. Nevertheless, the scent is also captured through our sense of smell and drives to the brain creating the same effect on our bodies.
Candles have been a focal point for many, to reflect, meditate, and relax. This profound influence of candles is great, not to mention the power of the tranquil atmosphere it creates.

There are many available candles out there. Treat yourself with high-end candles that are made and manufactured well. The return on investment on candles is fantastic. It is not monetary but psychological and physical.

Beautiful deisgn vs. functionality…

Would you rather have something beautiful or functional? Or both? And when do you decide to do this analysis?

No doubt beautiful things are desired by all of us. We all love to own beautiful pieces in our homes.

As a designer, I always lean towards creating beautiful and unique designs or products. But I always have the dilemma of incorporating functionality into the equation. Of course, the purpose of conception is the primary drive. Am I required to design a piece of work to service for something in particular? Or am I required to create a piece that will complement the overall interior design and feel of the space? Is it going to serve a purpose or use?
Depending on the purpose and direction I can then create my designs with keeping the balance between creativity and functionality.

But what about the consumer? Or the end user? When would you choose beautiful designs over functionality? Here’s what I think.
I believe that everyone is entitled to experience beauty and creativity one way or another. Having beautiful designs in your homes is the start. Let me start by saying that beauty and creativity is a crucial part of your learning experience in life. With every new creation, there is a logic and an exciting process behind it. That experience would open your eyes to many new things out there.
Not to mention, how beautiful design pieces would change the feel and look of your homes. Your home is your personal space, where you want to relax and indulge in the comfort and switch off from the outside world. This is why you would need to surround yourself with beautiful things, unique things that would help you create positive vibes around you and get motivated.
Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself, and in the things, that would make you feel better and happier.
